World Series Fan A Loser. On October 18, 1979, I was assigned by the Associated Press to cover the "celebration" in downtown Pittsburgh after the Pirates won the World Series. The man in this photo was bitten by a member of "the canine corps" as he apparently was judged to be too unruly by a policeman. This photo was used by several newspapers throughout U.S.
SIDE NOTE: Just nine months
earlier, I was attacked by a police dog as I covered the celebration of
Pittsburgh fans after the Steelers won the Super Bowl. I needed three stitches
to close the tear in my right calf.
