A Run For All Ages
The Dara Hosta/Olmsted Spirit 5K
Race/Walk/In-line Skate was held on Sunday, May 1st in Olmsted
Falls. Over 400 people ranging in age from five to seventy-seven
braved cold weather to set a new participation record.
All monies raised from the race/walk (after expenses) will go
toward college scholarships for Olmsted Falls High School seniors
who have shown their school and/or community spirit by the activities
they were involved in during their lifetime.
"It is extremely gratifying to have an event that brings
out the community for fun, fellowship and exercise," said
founding sponsor, Mark Madere of SpectraLight Photography. "Since
1998, we have raised several thousand dollars for scholarships
for Olmsted Falls students. It wouldn't be possible without the
financial support of so many Olmsted Falls and other area businesses
being corporate sponsors. Based on our preliminary numbers, we
will be able to give out at least $8500 in scholarships this year."
