Quiet Time On The Island

A rare summer moment at Mackinac Island, Michigan when a street is devoid of tourists and the water is without ships or boats.

Pictured here are the Straits of Mackinac - the strip of water that connects Lakes Michigan and Huron and separates Michigan's Lower and Upper Peninsulas. It is a shipping lane that connects the steel mills in Gary, Indiana to the iron mines of Minnesota.

This photo was taken in August while vacationing in Michigan.
